Baseline Concussion Test

Required for all skating members only!

Concussions are a fact of our sport. Sustaining multiple concussions can be life threatening.

We all want to be safe and take ourselves out of play long enough to heal, but at the same time we don’t want to be out too long because someone is not sure if they are healed. Therefore we require EVERY skating member to submit proof of a Baseline Concussion test (also known as an ImPACT test), within 30 days of joining Naptown. Please send confirmation of your Baseline test to Skater Relations. If you do not provide proof within 30 days you will not be allowed to return to practice, or bout, until it is completed.

Forward baseline confirmation to Skater Relations (SR). Please do not have the vendor send the testing information directly to NRD as it does not include your/the skaters name. Please have the confirmation sent to your personal email address and then forward that email to SR. Please include your derby name when sending, if using one.

To that end our physical therapy sponsors have made available to us the ImPACT test. It is a computer-administered test that takes about 20-30 mins. It costs $10 to create your baseline. After that if you need to take the test ever again it is free, no matter how often you need to take it. They have several locations all over the city. You can either pick a location from the web page and call them, or call an individual location and they can help you select the location best for you. Please feel free tell them you are with Naptown.

Naptown has a zero tolerance policy with regards to skating while possibly concussed. If a skater is concussed, they cannot bout until they have been cleared by a physician to skate. If the TC gets reports of a skater who thinks they are concussed, they will be required to complete an impact test clearing them to skate, before returning to practice.
